I’m back with another Rathole Radio. This time there’s a heady mix of nerdcore, metal, classical, folk, hip hop, house, electronica and more. All brought to you with a healthy heap of wittering and rambling from me. You should be used to that by now. I also played a live song which you may not have heard before. I hope you enjoy it.

Vote for me at PodcastAwards.com please!!! Thank you everyone, I appreciate it :)

19:17 – Words Of WisdomBill Hicks – “The Suck Your Own Cock Bit” – Bill brings his usual off the wall view of the world to the subject of blow jobs. What a guy, sadly missed.

I talked about needing some help to get this website reorganized and sorted out. I’ll sort out a really cool reward/prize for you. Send any potential designs as images to the usual email address. Thank you!!

  • 40:06 – Most Hi-Fi – Action!License Unknown – Another one from SlamJamz.com. There was a problem with the playback here and most of the lyrics didn’t come through, I have no idea why. I’m very sorry. Go an download the original.
  • 43:24 – Frankie Machine – The Clue Is In The Question – License Unknown – from 1999’s Why Are You? EP.

47:44 – Live Acoustic Track – This time I played “Take Me Away” by Oasis, a little known b-side. They can be a bit annoying to some people as a band and I get that, the popular songs have been played to death, but this is a hidden gem. Many of their b-sides are and they’re well worth looking up. This performance wasn’t the best I’ve ever given so I apologise for that. My cold was still getting the better of me a little.

Rathole Live Event Anyone? I floated the idea of a live gig in Liverpool next year. April or May probably and I want to know how people feel about it. Leave a comment letting me know if you’d be up for it. We’ll get a nice venue somewhere, get some bands to play and we’ll have ourselves a bit of a party. Here are 3 good reasons: It’ll be the show’s 1st birthday, It’ll be my 30th birthday around then, and most importantly David Rovics will be in the country at that time and I could hopefully get him and Atilla The Stockbroker to play for us. Let me know your thoughts

Let Me Know What You Think: Please send me your thoughts and feedback on the music I play or any other aspect of the show. If you make music or you know people who make music and you think they should be on the show, send me suggestions and demos by all means. I’m always pleased to find new music and share it with people. Most of that is down to you, the wonderful listeners and your wisdom.

What Others Are Saying

have to give some respect to Bill Hicks! One of his phrases I use as often as possible is “your children are not special”

  2. Dan December 11, 2009 at 7:35 pm

@oliver – Oh yes, I love Bill Hicks and I wonder what he would make of the world today. We lost a powerful voice and sharp brain when he died. RIP Bill

  3. Phil December 11, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Hi Dan, I’m in the middle of listening to an EconTalk podcast at http://www.econtalk.org/archives/2009/11/heller_on_gridl.html and had to stop because I thought you’d like this quote:

“if you are a fan of old hip hop, Chuck D, Public Enemy, used to rap over a collage of sound. Rappers today don’t do that–instead use single sample because licensing 300 is impossible. Whole style of expression is illegal”

  4. Dan December 11, 2009 at 11:55 pm

@Phil – Thanks for the information. You’re right I do like that quote a lot. It’s true. The state of intellectual laws in the Internet age is stifling innovation, not promoting it I’m sorry to say.
