The first Rathole Radio of the New Year. Welcome to 2010 everyone. A New Year, a new decade but the same eclectic collection of music, waffling and laughs. I played a live song, voted for by the live listeners as always. I hope you enjoy this selection and I’d particularly like to thank everyone who came and joined me on Sunday night.

  • 00:00 – Reverend Dan – It’s Getting Bongo Rock In Here – License Unknown – sent by my good friend Adrian McEwen.
  • 36:37 – David Rovics – Saint Patrick’s Battalion – CC BY-NC-SA Licensed

  • 47: 29 – LIVE TRACK – “Better Man” by Pearl Jam won the song vote and I gave my rendition of this tune. I hope you enjoy it.
  • Jono Bacon be a guest on the next show (Jan 24th 9pm GMT) talking about his Severed Fifth project. Expect metal. Send me some questions or join us live if you want to ask him anything.
  • 59:02 – Hobo Twang – The Good Thing About Being Lonely – CC BY-SA Licensed

What Others Are Saying

I am just expecting the intro to the next episode to be like “its dan’s world its dan’s world party time excellent”

  2. Dan January 12, 2010 at 4:09 pm

    @redbrain – Hah cheers mate, I love Wayne’s World. I’ll have to work on a spoof :)

  3. oliver January 12, 2010 at 8:14 pm

nice to hear more Carbon-Silicon… I also liked The Hot Quiche Conspiracy – it made me LOL

  4. Dan January 12, 2010 at 10:15 pm

@oliver – Yes Carbon-Silicon rock. I also got a laugh out of the Hot Quiche Conspiracy track and they’re a really tight band. Top stuff. I’ll be playing more in future. Thanks for listening.

  5. Daniel Costalis January 13, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Great job on PJ! I’m impressed.

  6. Dan January 13, 2010 at 10:04 pm

@Dan – Thanks. I thought it could have gone a little better listening back, but it came out ok. It’s not an easy song to do without a band because it needs the drums and rhythm section really.

  7. Adrian McEwen January 13, 2010 at 11:44 pm

I’m afraid I can’t shed a lot of light on the licence for “It’s getting bongo rock in herre”. I got the mp3 from what is I presume Reverend Dan’s website, although the domain was disparatedan.com, back in 2003 but that’s long gone from the Internet now.

As you worked out, it’s a mashup of the Incredible Bongo Band’s “Bongo Rock” with the cover of Nelly’s “Hot in Here” by Tiga.

  8. Dan January 13, 2010 at 11:51 pm

@adrian – I searched but couldn’t find the track anywhere. It’s a good mix. It can’t be CC because both the tracks used will be copyright but I took a chance and played it anyway :)
