Welcome to another Rathole Radio, a very special show this week as it was followed on the live stream by a Professor Kliq gig all the way from Chicago. I even managed to switch all the live listeners over to his Icecast stream without them having to reconnect. I’m amazed it worked without crashing and burning. It was a slightly more eclectic show than normal this time I think, it wasn’t intentional but it just came out that way. There’s some serious genre shifts in the upcoming tracks. I hope you enjoy the show. If you’d like to get involved live please do, just check out the live page for details.

I discussed my new project Salvage Digital Radio, which has really only come about by chance but it’s picking up speed. A proper independent streaming radio station.

Listener Song Vote: 09:17 This week I decided to offer a vote for which track I would play later in the show, and I offered 2 very different genres. Some electro breakbeat jazz and some Simon & Garfunkel-esque folk. You can hear clips of the 2 tunes that people voted on live here.

  • 12:27 — The Rinky Dinks – 5 Foot 2 – License Unknown
  • 14:40 — Major Major – SatelliteCC BY-NC-SA Licensed

RIP Les Paul: I wanted to comment on the death of guitar and recording technology pioneer Les Paul in the last week. I also read some information about him from Wikipedia. Most people know his guitars but most people don’t know the debt all multi-track studio production (a subject close to my heart) owes to Les. An amazing guy.

  • 26:56 — DJ Rush – Drink My DrumsCC BY-NC-SA Licensed

Email Competition: Send me your amusing suggestions for my catchphrase. It be something I say lot like “this one reminds me of ” or something you think I should say as a catchphrase. If it’s funny and I like it then you could win. There’s been a few entries but I thought I’d leave it open another couple of weeks. Thanks to Aiden Nibali for suggesting a Kagnee CD should be the prize. I’ll even sign it for you if you like, ooh what a prize hehe. Send emails to the usual address – show AT ratholeradio.org

Don’t forget you can access the channel from a web browser by going to webchat.freenode.net and entering #ratholeradio in the channel text box. Take care till next time folks. I’ll be back with a live show on Sunday 6th of September at 9pm UK Time. Please join me and contribute to the live show, it’s a lot of fun.
