It’s Rathole Radio time again! This time I played a mixture of jazz, blues, hip hop, nerdcore, electronica, punk rock and more for your listening pleasure. I also played a live track and continued my words of wisdom section. I hope you enjoy the show, don’t forget you can send your comments and feedback to show AT ratholeradio.org, or just add a comment here and I’ll get it.

I talked about my upcoming trip to Portland in the USA and I continued by playing a track sent to me by a listener, Don_S. He plays piano in a jazz band called Quantum Jazz in his native Denmark. I really liked their stuff and I wanted to share it with you. He plays a mean piano 🙂

Words Of Wisdom: 19:48 – I picked up the words of wisdom section again this time. Chris Rock talks about former Mayor Of Washington DC Marion Barry. This is taken from Chris’ album “Roll With The New”. If you haven’t heard it I suggest you give it a listen, it’s hilarious.

Amusing News: 27:40 – Porn Flakes – I talked about the recent story of a Swedish woman who was shocked to find the free DVD with her breakfast cereal contained hardcore porn. The Register cunningly dubbed this story “Porn Flakes”.

Live Acoustic Track: 41:27 – “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young & Crazy Horse. This won the song vote this week in one of the closest votes we’ve had to date. I played the track live and in case you’re wondering there are no tricks here. No effects, or special ways of making it sound better. It’s me, a guitar and one plain microphone in the room.

Emails: I got some nice emails this week so I wanted to mention them on the show. Here’s the low down

  • Kevan V – For very kindly sending me a silver award from his site 1award.co.uk
  • Andrew Williams (AKA Nik Doof) – For his music suggestions
  • Jan – I thought I’d throw in my idea for a catchphrase, too: ‘Easy for me to play’. You tend to say ‘Easy for me to say’ a lot, and playing Creative Commons music isn’t much of a hassle, either 😉
  • Peggy (AKA Miss Tech) – “oh, that ended abruptly”
  • DerekSD – Sent some more great suggestions. Will dig into these in future

Send me your amusing suggestions for my catchphrase. It can be something I say lot like “this one reminds me of ” or something you think I should say as a catchphrase. All entries will go into a draw. There’s been a few entries so far but I thought I’d leave it open another couple of weeks. Thanks to Aiden Nibali for suggesting a Kagnee CD should be the prize. I’ll even sign it for you if you like, ooh what a prize hehe. Send emails to the usual address – show AT ratholeradio.org

Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoyed the show. Thanks also to everyone who turned up in our IRC channel at irc.freenode.net the channel name is #ratholeradio. I don’t expect much to happen there in the weeks between shows, I probably won’t be around much, but if people want to hang around in there and chat you’re more than welcome. Don’t forget you can access the channel from a web browser by going to webchat.freenode.net and entering #ratholeradio in the channel text box. Take care till next time folks.
